On Wednesday, May 13. 2007 I met with the breast surgeon and the breast cancer liaison. I had so many questions about the options my surgeon gave me. This is what was offered to me:
(1) Mastectomy with Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy followed by Chemotherapy;
(2) Lumpectomy with Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy followed by Radiation;
(3) Mastectomy or Lumpectomy with Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy and delayed treatment till after the birth of my child; or
(4) Terminate my pregnancy and seek either treatment.
Surgery, Anesthesia.....CHEMOTHERAPY... all of this during pregnancy. I couldn't believe that these were my options. How can all of this be safe?
